Recreating a 17th Century Painting in Photoshop Is Basically Magic

Using stock images and Johannes Vermeer’s 1664 painting The Concert as a base, photographer Erik Almas admirably recreated the lost masterpiece in Photoshop. Heck, it might be able to fool you into thinking it were the real thing… if you were standing and squinting from very far away. Still. It’s pretty neat to see Almas’ workflow and how creative he gets in trying to mimic the original. Source: Recreating a 17th Century Painting in Photoshop Is Basically Magic

Microsoft’s Surface Book isn’t the dream video-editing machine I hoped for

Would I consider using the Surface Book as my go-to mobile editing machine? Probably not. It was functional, but not ideal. Source: Microsoft’s Surface Book isn’t the dream video-editing machine I hoped for I have the Surface Book that came out last year that I use for my IT professional job. It’s a really nice machine but like this post I found it not quite so good when trying to edit photos and working in Photoshop. It works but not as fast to work with than my 2012 Retina MacBook Pro. I think it comes down to the dual core processors …

The First Spider-Man: Homecoming Trailers Are Here, Guest-Starring Iron Man (UPDATED)

Update: The first international trailer has arrived, and it’s much better than the U.S. one! There’s a lot less high school and a lot more Spider-Man in there, plus more villains (including the Shocker), more action, better music—it’s actually got a lot of the same footage, but it’s edited in such a way to make Homecoming look like a much more exciting movie. Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime joined Fallon on stage with an iPhone in hand (and a slick Mario pin on his lapel) to show off the first full-level run of Super Mario Run we’ve yet to see—but this moment was quickly overshadowed by a “one more thing” reveal: The Nintendo Switch console. It Took Four Months to Recreate the TMNT Cartoon’s Intro Using Super Nintendo’s Mario Paint

The Super Nintendo is best remembered as defining the 16-bit era of video gaming, although many of us spent countless hours playing with Mario Paint instead. But that pales in comparison to the over four months Mike Matei spent recreating the opening to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ animated series using only the SNES’ beloved animation game.
